These specifications cover straight-seam welded pipe intended for high temperature and / or corrosive services. Specifications A/SA312 include the requirements for manufacture of heavily cold worked pipe.
Optional supplementary requirements are provided for pipe in these specifications for inclusion in the order. They address items such as additional testing and heat treatment.
Standard dimensions of welded stainless steel pipe are shown in ANSI B36.19. These dimensions are also applicable to heavily cold worked pipe. Pipe having other dimensions is permitted to be ordered and furnished provided such pipe complies with all other requirements of this specification.
Review of Procurement Requirements:
Orders for material to Specifications A/SA312 shall conform to the requirements of the current edition of Specification A999/A999M. Paragraph 4 of Specifications A/SA358 provides the requirements for ordering material.

These specifications cover seamless and welded with and without filler metal austenitic stainless steel tubing.
Optional supplementary requirements are provided for tubing in these specifications for inclusion in the order. They address items such as additional testing and heat treatment.
Tubing having diameters other than those specified may be furnished, provided such tubes comply with all other requirements of the specification. Wall thickness may be specified as minimum or average wall with tolerances established in the specification.

A/SA312 prohibits the use of filler metal in welded pipe. A/SA358 requires the use of filler metal in welded pipe.
